President of Tajikistan Visits Peking University

Beijing, May 13 /Xinhua/ — On Tuesday, the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon visited Peking University as part of his state visit to China.

During the event, E. Ralmonu was awarded the title of honorary professor of Peking University and he gave a speech.

In his speech, E. Ralmon stated that the traditional friendship and good-neighborly and amicable relations between the peoples of Tajikistan and China have deep historical roots, going back to the era of the ancient Silk Road, and the diplomatic relations between the two countries have been steadily developing in a stable and healthy manner since their establishment.

E. Rammon noted that Tajikistan always attaches great importance to cooperation with China in the field of higher education, scientific-technological innovations and academic exchanges, considering it as one of the most important components of bilateral relations. He hopes that in the future, Tajik and Chinese universities, including Peking University, will deepen cooperation in various areas.

Rector of Peking University Gun Ciyuan presented the results of exchanges and cooperation between Peking University and Tajikistan in such areas as personnel training, humanitarian exchanges, and mutual enrichment between civilizations. He expressed hope that China and Tajikistan will open a new chapter of cooperation in the fields of education, science, and technology, as well as humanitarian cooperation, to make a new and greater contribution to joint response to the transformation of global governance, and to promote regional development and prosperity.
