Sergey SobyaninInspected the construction of the “Novorizhskoye” electric depot.
“We are fully committed to building the Rublyovo-Arkhangelskaya metro line. The plan is the first stage — 2026, the second stage — 2027. The deadlines are very tight, ambitious. Well, as a result, passengers will see beautiful stations, tunnels through which they will pass, but much remains beyond this picture. It is a huge engineering support for the entire system and, of course, the electric depot, which allows operating a large number of rolling stock. It is being built here at quite a revolutionary pace, using the latest technologies,” noted Sergey Sobyanin.
The mayor of Moscow added that about 30 metro trains will be serviced and maintained simultaneously at the “Novorizhskoye” electric depot. It will be located on the northern side of Novorizhskoye Highway in the area of the 23rd kilometer in Krasnogorsk. The construction is being carried out according to a standard project with the most compact and efficient placement of all necessary facilities.
On the 13.9-hectare section, it is planned to erect an operational service center on 26 tracks with a component washing camera, a motor depot with a repair and construction site, a production-administrative and engineering-technical building, a training ground, and much more. The total area will exceed 48 thousand square meters. The extended length of the depot’s tracks will exceed 10 kilometers.
The new depot will be equipped with the most modern equipment with a high level of automation. This will allow the composition to be serviced qualitatively and efficiently.
More than 520 jobs will be created. They will be provided with stable income and social guarantees from the Moscow Government. In addition, the staff will have comfortable working and resting conditions. The administrative building will feature a canteen with 56 seats. Rest rooms for locomotive crews will be organized like hotel rooms—with placement in two-person blocks equipped with bathrooms. The medical service will include a pre-departure examination room, a doctor’s office, procedure and vaccination rooms, psychologists’ offices, and rooms for medical personnel.Also provided are an assembly hall and utility rooms (laundry, ironing room, rooms for drying work clothes).
Entry and exit of rolling stock on the future Rublyovo-Arkhangelskaya metro line from the “Novorizhskoe” electric depot will be carried out through a connecting two-track tunnel approximately 1.6 kilometers long.
Preparatory and earthworks are now in the final stage. Specialists are engaged in the installation of monolithic structures and the assembly of precast reinforced concrete structures for the future depot buildings. The construction readiness of the facility is 15 percent. Completion of construction is planned by the end of 2027. Before its commissioning, the trains of the Rublyovo-Arkhangelskaya line will be serviced by the “Solntsevo” electric depot.
The capacity of the new depot will be 26 trains, the night parking — 23 trains with eight cars each. They will be able to wash four trains per day. Operational maintenance will cover 31 trains per day.
In “Novorizhskoye,” technologically advanced Russian trains “Moscow-2026” will be introduced. They are serviced under a life-cycle contract: the manufacturer is responsible for the technical condition for 30 years. In total, over two years, the metropolitan area will purchase more than 700 “Moscow-2026″ cars,” wrote Sergey Sobyanin on his channel.

Today, the Moscow Metro ranks first in the world in terms of the pace of rolling stock modernization. The share of new trains exceeds 80 percent. By 2030, there will be no lines on which modern trains will not operate.
Compared to traditional “numbered” trains, the capacity of modern train sets has increased by approximately 10 percent. For the comfort and convenience of passengers, the interior of the carriage has been updated: metal joints between seats were removed, the glazing area on the handrails in one group was increased, and the “passenger-machine operator” communication block was changed. The carriages are equipped with USB and Type-C ports, information screens, convenient overhead navigation, and adaptive lighting that changes depending on the time of day. Powerful climate systems are installed in all modern generation trains, maintaining comfortable lighting.Moreover, they move more quietly and smoothly.
Novorizhskaya Station
The under-construction “Novorizhskaya” station of the Rublyovo-Arkhangelskaya metro line is located in the Kuntsevo district, between Ilyinskoye Highway and the 23rd kilometer of Novorizhskoye Highway.
“Novorizhskaya” is a column-type shallow-depth station. It will have two underground vestibules with exits to a prospective residential development, the “Globus” shopping center, and “Lemana Pro.” Six elevators will be installed for passengers with limited mobility.
It is expected that the new station will be used by more than 17 thousand passengers per day, and by 2030 — over 21 thousand. Multimodal trips will become more convenient and comfortable: travel time toLarge ring line(BKL) will be reduced by four times (from one hour to 20 minutes), and to the Moscow International Business Center (MIBC) “Moscow-City” — more than three times (the trip will take 30 minutes).
The station design is dominated by brown and white tones. The columns and ceiling will be made of vertical slats, creating the image of a flickering flame. The ceiling panels will be arranged at different planes, with ribbon LED lights embedded between the slats. On the platform walls, next to the station name, there will be a multifigure composition of 3D elements in the shape of a “wave,” made from aluminum honeycomb panels — their outer surface has a brushed texture and is anodized to look like copper. The platform floors will be covered with slabs of thermally treated grey and light granite.The same materials are used for finishing the lobbies.
The “Novorizhskaya” station is being built with maximum comfort for passengers in mind. Ticket vending machines and turnstiles of metropolitan production will be installed at the station, allowing payment for travel by all available methods, including biometrics.
At the moment, the installation of the enclosing structures and excavation development of the pit has been completed, and the erection of monolithic structures is underway. The construction readiness of the station is 29 percent.
Sublovo-Arkhangelskaya metro line
The new Rublyovo-Arkhangelskaya metro line, 27.6 kilometers long with 12 stations, will run from the Moscow International Business Center “Moscow-City” to Rublyovo-Arkhangelskoye beyond the MKAD and further to Krasnogorsk — with convenient and fast transfers toMoscow Central Ring(MCC), Solntsevskaya, Filevskaya, Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya, and Big Circle metro lines. Comfortable transfers on the MCC and BCL will provide dozens of multimodal trip route options and allow fast access to any point of the city. Stations of the Rublyovo-Arkhangelskaya line will be equipped with the most modern services for passengers.
The line will connect two of the largest business districts: the Moscow City International Business Center (MIBC) and SberCity in the new Rublyovo-Arkhangelskoye district. At the final station “Business Center,” passengers will be able to use the infrastructure of “Moscow City” — one of the city’s largest transport hubs. Among other things, the Moscow City railway station has the potential to develop international connections. At the request of the Moscow Government, Russian Railways is exploring the possibility of introducing an additional stop for some Moscow – Minsk trains as early as autumn 2026.
The opening of the Rublyovo-Arkhangelskaya metro line will improve transportation services for about one million current and future residents of seven central, western, and northwestern districts of Moscow — Presnensky, Dorogomilovo, Filevsky Park, Shchukino, Strogino, Khoroshevo-Mnevniki, Kuntsevo. The discussion is also about the quarterrenovation, the territory of a comprehensive development and in the Moscow suburb of Krasnogorsk.

A new line will help create additional multimodal travel route options around the city: passengers will be able to use convenient and fast transfers on the Bolshaya Koltsevaya, Solntsevskaya, Filevskaya, Arbat-Pokrovskaya metro lines, and the MCC. It is expected that more than 175,000 passengers will use the transfers daily.
This metro line will provide transport accessibility to the prospective “SberCity” district in Rublyovo-Arkhangelskoye with 65 thousand residents and more than 70 thousand workplaces, connecting it with the MMDT business quarter “Moscow-City.”
In addition, the transport accessibility of popular recreational areas and residents in the Strogino district will improve, the load on the Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya and Tagansko-Krasnopresnenskaya metro lines will decrease, and the intensity of vehicular traffic on the adjacent street-road network will also be reduced. This, in turn, will improve the environmental situation in the northwest of Moscow: Rublyovskoye Highway, Marshal Zhukov Avenue, and Novorizhskoye Highway will become 10 percent freer.
The first two stations of the future branch “Business Center” and “Shelepikha” were opened in 2018 as part of the Large Circle Line of the metro. They are currently temporarily closed for integration work with the Rublyovo-Arkhangelskaya line.
In 2021, construction began on the Rublyovo-Arkhangelskaya line section from Shelepikha station to Lipovaya Roscha station, stretching 12.7 kilometers with six new stations, such as:
— “Zvenigorodskaya” — near the intersection of Shenogin Street, Shelepinsky Highway, and 1st Silikatny Proezd;
— “Narodnoye Opolchenie” (a transfer station on the namesake BKL line) — along Demyan Bedny Street at the intersection with Marshal Zhukov Avenue;
— “General Karbyshev Boulevard” — parallel to Marshal Tukhachevsky Street at the intersection with General Karbyshev Boulevard;
— “Silver Pine Forest” — along Parshin Street near the intersection with Zhivopisnaya Street;
— “Strogino” (a transfer station on the Arbat-Pokrovskaya line with the same name) — along Stroginsky Boulevard;
— “Lipovaya Roscha” — on the territory of the Moscow region along the MKAD, between the Novorizhskoye highway and the territory of residential and public development “Sputnik.”
In 2024–2025, construction began on the section from Lipovaya Roscha station to Novorizhskaya station, stretching six kilometers with two new stations, such as:
— “Rublyovo-Arkhangelskoye” — in the territory of the eponymous microdistrict in the Kuntsevo district between projected driveways No. 7120 and 7101;
— “Novorizhskaya” — in the Kuntsevo district between Ilyinskoe highway and the 23rd kilometer of Novorizhskoe highway.
In the future, it is planned to extend the line to Krasnogorsk with two stations named “Krasnogorsk” and “Izumrudnye Kholmy”.
At the moment, the reconstruction of tunnels on the “Shelepikha” — “General Karbyshev Boulevard” section has been completed.
In October 2025, the tunnel-boring mechanized complex (TBMC) “Lilya” completed the excavation of a large tunnel with a diameter of 10 meters between the stations “General Karbyshev Boulevard” and “Serebryany Bor”, and on January 15, 2026, construction began on a similar tunnel from “Serebryany Bor” to “Strogino.”
The second shield giant “Maria” began the passage from “Lipovaya Roscha” towards “Strogino” in July 2025. In addition, in February – April 2025, TPMK “Natali” and “Viktoriya” started the passage of the transit tunnels between the stations “Rublyovo-Arhangelskoye” and “Lipovaya Roscha,” which was completed on February 26, 2026.
In July 2025, the TPMK “Aleksandra” began construction of the left running tunnel between the “Rublyovo-Arkhangelskoye” and “Novorizhskaya” stations, and in October of the same year, the TPMK “Sofiya” started the excavation of the right tunnel.
Completion of the construction of the first section of the Rublyovo-Arkhangelskaya metro line is scheduled for 2026. Service will open from “Delovoy Tsentr” station to “General Karbyshev Boulevard” station. It will improve transportation service for more than 550 thousand residents of the Presnensky, Khoroshevo-Mnevniki, Shchukino, Dorogomilovo, and Filevsky Park districts.
Passengers will be able to transfer to the MCC and three metro lines: Solntsevskaya, Filevskaya, and BKL. It is planned that at the time of opening, the passenger flow on this section will amount to more than 90 thousand passengers per day, and by 2030 it will increase by almost 50 percent and exceed 128 thousand passengers per day. More than 65 thousand passengers per day will use transfers to other lines.
The second and third sections — “General Karbyshev Boulevard” — “Linden Grove” and “Linden Grove” — “Novorizhskaya” respectively — will be introduced in 2027. It is expected that by 2033 the passenger traffic on the line will increase almost threefold and exceed 266 thousand passengers per day.
