Beijing, May 11 /Xinhua/ — In the first quarter of 2026, automobile cargo turnover through the Manzhouli Land Port (autonomous region of Inner Mongolia, Northern China), located on the border of China and Russia, amounted to 640 thousand tons. The trade volume reached 31.76 billion yuan (about 4.64 billion US dollars). Both indicators increased by 27.2% and 51% respectively compared to the same period last year, the Chinese daily newspaper “Naiman Daily” reported on Monday.
The Manzhouli Automobile CPP is a major cross-border channel for the development of Sino-Russian trade and economic relations. Cross-border trade exchanges through it are becoming increasingly close. Here, there is not only an unabated growth in cross-border transport flow but also an acceleration in the development of new business formats such as cross-border e-commerce and market procurement. With its help, CPP products of Chinese production are efficiently and directly supplied to the European market, while foreign resources and high-quality goods are continuously entering the Chinese market.
A significant increase in foreign trade turnover through the Manzhouli automobile checkpoint became possible to a considerable extent thanks to the efforts of the local customs, which created a mechanism for interaction between the relevant parties of China and Russia, enhancing data exchange in order to ensure unimpeded customs clearance of goods.
At the same time, the local customs service is promoting the creation of an “intellectual customs” and an “intellectual checkpoint,” as well as taking measures such as “advance declaration + preliminary registration for customs clearance,” which has significantly increased the speed of inspection and passage of vehicles.
In the future, the local customs will focus efforts on promoting the high-quality joint implementation of the “Belt and Road” initiative and the creation of a new platform of openness for China in the northern direction, as well as the expansion of regional trade and economic cooperation.
