London, May 9 /Xin Hua/ — Britain will send the destroyer HMS Dragon from the eastern part of the Mediterranean Sea to the Middle East against the backdrop of preparations for a possible international mission to ensure the safety of ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz. This was reported by British media on Saturday.
This step will allow the Navy to immediately participate in a future operation aimed at ensuring freedom of navigation in this waterway, Sky News reports citing the UK Ministry of Defence.
Any plan will be exclusively defensive in nature with the aim of restoring trust in the commercial fleet, the department added.
