Bishkek, May 9 /Xin Hua/ — The capital of Kyrgyzstan, Bishkek, solemnly celebrated the 81st anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 on Saturday.
President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov addressed his compatriots with congratulations on Victory Day. The head of state emphasized the historical significance of the Great Victory, noting the contribution of the Kyrgyz people in the defeat of fascism.
An important event of the day was the procession of the “Immortal Regiment.” Participants carried portraits of their relatives—veterans of the Great Patriotic War, demonstrating a living connection between generations.
On Victory Square, a solemn ceremony of laying flowers and wreaths at the Eternal Flame took place. Representatives of the country’s leadership, veterans, and numerous townspeople participated in it.
The program also includes an exhibition of military equipment from the war period and the traditional distribution of soldier’s porridge.
