Budapest, May 9 /Xinhua/ — On Saturday, at the first session of the new Hungarian parliament, the leader of the “Tisa” party, Peter Madar, was elected prime minister of the country.

195 out of 199 deputies participated in the vote: 140 voted in favor, 54 against, one abstained. P. Madjar secured the necessary majority of votes to be elected as prime minister, marking the beginning of his four-year term of office.

In the parliamentary elections held on April 12, the “Tisa” party led by P. Madjar won over the ruling coalition “FIDESZ – Hungarian Civic Alliance” headed by Viktor Orban, securing 141 out of 199 seats in the legislative body and obtaining a two-thirds majority of votes in the new parliament. –0–
