Saint Petersburg, May 9 /Sinyua/ — The military parade dedicated to the 81st anniversary of the victory of the Soviet Union in the Great Patriotic War took place on Saturday at Palace Square in Saint Petersburg.
The parade began at 10 a.m. For the first time, the military parade was opened by a combined detachment of drummers from the military orchestras of the Saint Petersburg garrison. More than 1,000 servicemen of the Saint Petersburg garrison of all types and branches of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, the National Guard troops, the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the Ministry of Internal Affairs took part in the solemn procession. Military personnel of the “North” group, participating in the special military operation, marched along Palace Square. The parade passed without military equipment.
The parade was attended by the acting commander of the troops of the Leningrad Military District, Lieutenant General Rustam Minnekaev. The parade was commanded by the acting chief of staff of the Leningrad Military District, Major General Mikhail Lysenko. –0–
