Chengdu, May 8 /Xin Hua/ — Former member of the Bureau of the CPC Committee of the city of Chuncing /Southwest China/ and former secretary of the Political and Legal Affairs Commission of the party committee of this city Lu Kesua was sentenced on Friday to death with a two-year reprieve for accepting bribes. The fact of bribery was proven in court.

The verdict in the Lu Kexu case was handed down by the People’s Court of the intermediate level of the city of Luzhou / Sichuan Province, Southwest China /. Lu Kexu will also be deprived of political rights for life, and all his personal property will be confiscated.

Moreover, the court ruled that the valuables and proceeds already recovered by him as a result of illegal activities must be handed over in full to the state treasury.

It was established during the court proceedings that in the period from 1997 to 2024, the defendant Lu Ke Su, abusing his official position in various posts, including in the former Ministry of Construction and the Ministry of Housing, Urban and Rural Development, as Vice-Mayor of Chuntin and Secretary of the Political and Legal Commission of the CPC Committee of the city of Chuntin, and also taking advantage of favorable conditions created by his official powers, provided assistance to other persons in such matters as the conclusion of contracts for subcontracting projects, project evaluation, and qualification verification.In return, he illegally received money and gifts totaling more than 189 million yuan (about 27.59 million USD). The U.S. court ruled that Lu Keshuai’s actions constitute the crime of bribery.

Earlier, on January 15, 2026, the court held an open hearing during which Lu Kesa admitted his guilt and expressed remorse in his closing statement.
