Kunming, May 8 /Xinhua/ — Twin brothers Khasan and Khusan Yuldashev, born in 1994 in Uzbekistan, became acquainted with China thanks to studying at the Southwest University of Finance and Economics. After graduation, the younger brother Khusan stayed in the city of Chengdu (the administrative center of Sichuan Province, Southwest China) to start his own business and settle there, while the older brother Khasan returned to their homeland. The hearts of the two brothers are closely connected by a special thread – the small Moziyan-Khani Autonomous County, located in the city of Pu’er, Yunnan Province in southwest China.
Motzyan County, which crosses the Tropic of Cancer, is the only autonomous county in the country for the Zani ethnic group. It is known as the “homeland of twins”: more than a thousand pairs of twins live in its territory. Every year, the international twins festival “Tropic of Cancer” is held here, gathering thousands of pairs of twins from different corners of the world.Various events are organized and held as part of the festival, such as bonfire parties, twin contests, as well as presentations of traditional costumes of 56 nationalities of China, which attracts a large number of tourists from around the world who want to experience the unique charm of the “homeland of twins.”
This year, the 20th International Twins Festival “Cancer Tropic” was held from May 1 to 5, in which Hasan and Khusan participated. In fact, since participating in the 14th festival, the brothers have become permanent guests of this district.
Khusan recalls that the first time he found himself in Motzyane, he was pleasantly surprised by the huge number of pairs of twins he met on the street. Having told the parents about this in his hometown, they were amazed that such a holiday exists in China, specially dedicated to twins, and now they eagerly await the day when they can personally visit this amazing land.
In recent years, the route to Motzyan and back has changed imperceptibly. Previously, it was necessary to fly through Chengdu to Kunming (Yunnan Province, Southwest China), and then take a bus, but now it is possible to travel directly from Motzyan to Chengdu by high-speed train. In the eyes of the Yuldashev twins, Motzyan is not just a small county, but rather an “open international living room” that welcomes friends from all over the world.
The twin festival held in Motzyane is not just a festive meeting, but also a starting point for countless cross-border friendly connections. Here, Hasan and Khusan got acquainted with many Chinese twins and established a strong friendship with them.
“Now returning to Moczyan for me is like coming home: the locals are warm and hospitable, familiar faces are everywhere, and this feeling of belonging, originating from the depths of the soul, has long since surpassed geographical distance,” Hasan said.
Now Khusan has registered his company in Chengdu and is actively working in the Chinese market. Hasan constantly makes trips between China and Uzbekistan, helping his younger brother develop international trade.
Speaking about the future, Khasan hopes to visit even more cities in China to get acquainted with the rich and multifaceted culture of the Celestial Empire, and Khasan plans to further expand his business to establish trade and economic ties as a strong connection between his homeland and China.
For brothers from Uzbekistan, Motzyan is no longer just a geographical coordinate or a symbol of celebration, but a harbor that wounds memories of youth and has become a witness to adulthood, as well as a bridge of kindness connecting the hearts of the peoples of China and Uzbekistan.
