Bangkok/Phnom Penh, May 7 /Xin Hua/ — Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul held a meeting with his colleague from Cambodia Hun Manet and Philippine President Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos Jr. at the 48th Summit of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in the Philippine city of Cebu. The office of the Prime Minister of Thailand reported this on Thursday.

As noted by the official representative of the Department of Rattachada Thanadire, Anutin Charnvirakul discussed the situation along the Thailand-Cambodia border with the leaders of Cambodia and the Philippines.

“I have just had a friendly and frank conversation with Prime Minister Hun Manet. We both once again confirmed that we will move together towards peace through dialogue,” stated the head of the Thai government at a joint press conference following the results of the trilateral negotiations.

“Prime Minister Hun Manet and I agreed to instruct our foreign ministers to work closely together on a list of practical measures to strengthen trust,” added Anutin Charnvirakul.

Khun Manet characterized the negotiations from his side as a reflection of the “shared determination to achieve a lasting peace.”

The Cambodian Prime Minister noted that the discussions were focused on measures for de-escalation and confidence-building, aimed at restoring and consolidating functional frameworks for sustainable peace and normalization of relations. –0–
