Washington, May 7 /Xin Hua/ — US President Donald Trump suddenly abandoned his plan to escort ships through the Strait of Hormuz after Saudi Arabia prohibited the United States from using its bases and airspace for the operation. This was reported on Wednesday by NBC News citing two American officials.
D. Trump’s statement about the “Freedom” project on social networks, as noted, angered the Saudi leadership.
A telephone conversation with Saudi Arabia’s crown prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud did not lead to a resolution of the problem. This forced D. Trump to suspend the plan to unblock the Strait of Hormuz in order to return American military access to the critically important airspace, NBC reports. –0–
