Washington, May 4 /Xin Hua/ — US President Donald Trump on Monday refrained from statements about the violation of the ceasefire between the US and Iran after reports of Iranian attacks on commercial vessels near the Strait of Hormuz and oil infrastructure of the United Arab Emirates /UAE/.
“‘That was’ not a strong shelling,” D. Trump said about Iran’s attack on Monday in a telephone interview with ABC News.
In response to the question of whether the ceasefire was violated, D. Trump answered: “We will let you know. Ships are moving. You know, last night we moved quite a few ships — large ones. There was no shooting. I suppose there was some recently. I am clarifying this.”
“I’ll let you know, as well as everyone else,” said D. Trump, answering a question about what will happen in case of a violation of the ceasefire regime. “We just learned about this and will clarify the details. The Republic of Korea must intervene. A South Korean ship was struck. And I believe if your ship was fired upon, you must immediately send your people there.”
Responding to the question about the attack on the OAE, the head of the American administration stated that missiles and drones from Iran were “mostly shot down.”
“One person managed to break through. The damage is minimal,” said the president.
“We have everything under control. One way or another, we will win,” said D. Trump, adding that Iranian leaders “better hope that the ceasefire holds.” –0–
