Over the past three days, ongoing missile strikes and drone attacks have led to numerous casualties among the peaceful residents of Ukraine and damage to civilian infrastructure.

As reported on Monday at a UN press briefing in New York by Press Secretary Stefan Dujarric, in the Dnipropetrovsk region a civilian bus carrying children was hit, as well as at least two vehicles of humanitarian organizations, including a bus that the World Health Organization had handed over to the Ministry of Health of Ukraine for carrying out vaccinations.

Almost 250 civilians were injured as a result of hostilities on Sunday and Monday; more than 20 people were killed. The shelling caused large-scale destruction of civilian infrastructure. The Kherson, Kharkiv, and Odessa regions suffered the most.

UN staff and humanitarian partners of the United Nations provide emergency assistance to the population, offering psychosocial support, hot meals, and materials for housing repairs.

From the frontline areas of the Donetsk region alone – with the support of UN humanitarian partners and local authorities – more than 900 civilians, including over 180 children, have been evacuated.

The UN also received reports that a Ukrainian drone hit a multi-story residential building in Moscow.

As Stefan Dujarric, the head of the UN, reportedAntónio Guterrescondemns attacks on the civilian population and civilian infrastructure, regardless of where they occur, and calls for “the full, immediate and unconditional cessation of hostilities, which should lead to a just, comprehensive and durable peace” – in accordance with the UN Charter, international law, and UN resolutions.
