Vladivostok, May 3 /Xin Hua/ — The international children’s parade “Great-Grandchildren of Victory” took place on Sunday in Vladivostok, Russia. About 1500 children from the Russian Federation, China, and Laos took part in it.
The Governor of Primorsky Krai, Oleg Kozhemyako, noted that the “Great-Grandchildren of Victory” parade, which is held for the second time, acquired international status this year. “Today, the parade has become international. In one formation with you were children from the People’s Republic of China and Laos. This is very symbolic since the heroes of the Great Patriotic War fought for the future of children, for their right to live, study, make friends, and be happy,” he said.
The Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of Primorsky Krai, Anton Voloshko, said that the parade, which united Primorsky schoolchildren and teachers, fosters in children a sense of responsibility, respect for history, and pride in the deeds of their ancestors.
“It is a great honor for me to participate in the parade. Our ancestors shed blood and gave their lives for the sake of the peace that we enjoy today. As a young person of the new era, I will always remember this history and contribute to a better future,” said Liu Hanzi, a young student from the Chinese city of Yu in Chuzhou Province. –0–
