On April 30, the Day of Indigenous Small-Numbered Peoples of the Russian Federation is celebrated for the first time, established by the Presidential Decree dated November 4, 2025.

Dear friends!

Please accept my sincere congratulations on the Day of the Indigenous Small-Numbered Peoples of the Russian Federation, which is being celebrated for the first time this year.

You possess a unique cultural heritage, carefully preserving traditions and customs, passing them from generation to generation, engaging in marine and hunting industries, reindeer herding, and artistic crafts. You are an important part of our multinational and multi-confessional state.

In Russia, there live representatives of about two hundred peoples with their own history, spiritual and moral values, and a unique way of life that has been formed over millennia. And today, one of our common tasks, set by the President, is to strengthen the unity of the country, preserving its diversity. The government pays priority attention to this direction. The Concept of Sustainable Development of the Indigenous Small-Numbered Peoples of the North, Siberia, and the Far East of the Russian Federation is being implemented, with systematic work being carried out to preserve the native territories of residence and native languages.Advanced digital services are actively being implemented, which is especially important for remote areas, expanding opportunities for youth self-realization. Much is being done to support traditional sectors of the economy and the social infrastructure associated with them, popularize ethnourism, and promote industrial products.

I wish you success in all your endeavors, health, and well-being.

M. Mishustin
