Hunger in Lebanon

Repressions in Iran

UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk expressed deep concernintensification of repression against dissenters in Iran. She emphasized that the rights of all citizens of the country must be fully observed. Since the beginning of the strikes by Israel and the USA on Iran two months ago, nine people have been executed in connection with the protests of January 2026, another ten – for alleged participation in opposition groups, and two – on charges of espionage. Since February 28, according to estimates, more than 4,000 people have been detained on charges related to national security. Representatives of ethnic and religious minorities are at particular risk.

Warming in Europe

This is stated in the report “State of the Climate in Europe” for 2025, published on Tuesday, prepared by the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO). The authors of the report emphasize that Europe remains the fastest warming continent in the world. On at least 95 percent of the region’s territory in 2025, temperatures exceeding the annual average norm were recorded. In addition, the areas of snow and ice cover are shrinking.

Day of Remembrance for Earthquake Victims

Today at the UN, they are marking for the first timeInternational Day of Remembrance for Victims of Earthquakes, established by the General Assembly last year. The day is intended to honor the memory of those who died as a result of these disasters and to mobilize aid for affected communities.
