Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Patrushev during a working visit to the United Arab Emirates met with the Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister of the UAE Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

“Cooperation between the Russian Federation and the United Arab Emirates is of a strategic nature. In 2026, it will be 55 years since the establishment of our diplomatic relations. Despite the complex international situation, they continue to develop dynamically. Primarily, this is facilitated by a trusting dialogue between the leaders of our countries. The Arab Emirates are one of Russia’s most important economic partners in the Middle East. As a result, last year’s trade turnover reached a historic maximum.”I note that interaction in the agro-industrial sector is consistently developing: over the past three years, the volume of mutual trade has increased more than twofold,” said Dmitry Patrushev.

The Deputy Chairman of the Government of Russia reported that domestic companies are interested in further increasing exports to the Emirati market not only of food products, but also of mineral fertilizers.

At the meeting, the parties discussed a wide range of bilateral cooperation issues, including in the field of agriculture and natural resource management. Special attention was given to the creation of the BRICS grain exchange. The initiative was supported by the leaders of all member countries, and at the present moment, the details of its operation are being worked out.

The creation of the grain exchange BLIKX will strengthen global food security. Participating countries will be able to form independent price indicators within the framework of the association, which will contribute to a more objective assessment of the cost of agricultural products on the world market.
