Beijing, April 29 /Xinhua/ — Vice Chairman of the NPC Standing Committee Han Zheng held a meeting on Wednesday in Beijing with Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong, discussing relations between the two countries.
Han Zheng stated that over the past ten-plus years, China-Australia relations have made significant progress, but have simultaneously experienced ups and downs. According to him, the adherence of China and Australia to the principle of relating to each other as equals, the search for common ground while reserving differences, and mutually beneficial cooperation corresponds to the fundamental interests of both sides.
As indicated by the Deputy Chairman of the CPC, China is ready, together with Australia, to implement important agreements reached by the leaders of the two countries, adhere to the correct development direction of bilateral relations, strengthen the alignment of development strategies, enhance dialogue and exchanges, building more mature, stable, and fruitful China-Australia relations of all-encompassing strategic partnership.
P. Wong, for her part, stated that currently relations between Australia and China demonstrate a positive development dynamic, and mutually beneficial cooperation is steadily moving forward. She added that Australia highly values its relations with China, intends to strengthen communication and dialogue, expand practical cooperation, and contribute to the sustainable development of bilateral ties.
