Beijing, April 29 /Xin Hua/ — China’s zero-tariff policy regarding 53 African countries, having established diplomatic relations with China, demonstrates the common commitment of China and Africa to promoting global peace and development based on stability. This was stated on Wednesday by the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, Lin Xian, adding that China will steadily promote the development of trade with Africa.
Lin Cian made an appropriate statement at a regular press briefing, responding to journalists’ questions regarding the zero-tariff policy for African countries, which will come into effect on May 1, 2026.
“China has noticed that Africa is eagerly awaiting the introduction of zero tariffs and speaks positively about it,” he said.
Lin Ziyan emphasized that there is a growth of global protectionism and unilateralism in the world, and the consequences of the situation in the Middle East have spread to neighboring continents. According to him, sharing opportunities and striving for common development through zero-tariff policies, China and Africa have demonstrated their determination to contribute to the global world and development based on stability.
“China will continue to conduct negotiations and conclude agreements on economic partnership for joint development with the relevant African countries. At the same time, it is improving the green channel for the export of agricultural products from Africa to China and will consistently facilitate the simplification of trade procedures between China and Africa,” said the diplomat.
