Beijing, April 29 /Xinhua/ — Large enterprises in the culture sector and related industries of China reported stable growth in revenue from business activities in the first quarter of 2026. This is evidenced by the official data published on Wednesday.
According to data from the National Bureau of Statistics of the PRC, for the reporting period, the volume of revenue realized by 82 thousand surveyed enterprises reached 3.56 trillion yuan (approximately 518.4 billion USD), increasing by 6.4 percent year-on-year.
At the same time, the revenue of enterprises specializing in the production of cultural products grew by 1.5% annually; wholesale enterprises and retail enterprises in the cultural sphere grew by 2.6%, and enterprises providing services in the cultural sphere grew by 9.9%.
In the specialized sector, the number of operational units of enterprises providing creative design services increased by 12%, enterprises engaged in the creation and provision of content by 10.7%, and enterprises supplying news information by 10.3%.
In the regional breakdown, cultural enterprises in the east of the country showed an increase in revenues of 6.9%, while similar enterprises in the central and western parts of the country — by 3.8% and 6.4% respectively, and in the northeast of the country this indicator, on the contrary, decreased by 8.3%.
