At the Belarusian State University of Foreign Languages, the VII International Scientific and Practical Conference “Solovyov Readings — 2026” took place. This year its theme was: “Linguistic Research in Synergy with Foreign Language Teaching.” For the students of the Institute of Russian Language of RUDN, participation in the event became an opportunity to present their own projects in an international academic environment, hear the reactions of colleagues, and engage in a meaningful professional conversation.
It is better to see the composition of the text
Our university was represented by students of the program “Applied Digital Philology.”
Polina Lishina, third-year student, spoke on the first day of the conference in the section“Lexicology and Stylistics of Modern Discourse”.
“My work was about a project for an information system that allows a new way to look at a literary work. The main idea is that a text can be perceived not only as a sequence of chapters and events, but also as a complex structure where the connections between characters, key episodes, and the overall logic of plot development are important. At the core of the presentation are two forms of representing the work: a temporal line of events and a graph of characters.”Such an approach, as shown in the work, makes the analysis of literature more visual and helps to better see the composition of the text, the dynamics of the plot, and the role of the characters in the development of the narrative, the nature of interpersonal interactions. Among the main conclusions was the idea that such digital solutions can be useful not only in the educational process but also in research work, especially in the field of digital philology,” she said.Polina Lishina.
Learn by playing
Taisia Vladimirova, a fourth-year student, presented a report at the section“Traditions and Innovations in the Practice of Teaching Foreign Languages”.
“In my work, gamified digital learning practices for Russian as a foreign language were considered. Foreign students come to the training with different levels of preparation, different paces of material assimilation, and different difficulties, so a single set of assignments is not always effective. The work presented an approach in which the digital portal does not simply give everyone identical exercises, but selects tasks more precisely, taking into account the specific characteristics of a particular student. At the same time, it was separately emphasized that game elements make learning more engaging and help maintain motivation, but especially well they work precisely in combination with adaptive task selection. The conclusion of the work was that such a model can make learning more flexible, understandable, and convenient for students of the preparatory faculty of RUDN,Taisia Vladimirova.
University support
Participation in the conference was made possible thanks to the systemic support from RUDN. The university provided the organization of the trip, processing of the business trip documents, payment for travel and accommodation, and also created conditions in which students could focus on substantial preparation of their presentations. In this sense, the trip became not only a personal achievement for the participants, but also an example of how the university consistently supports academic mobility of students and integration into international scientific communication. The students express sincere gratitude to the Department of Russian Language No. 1 and its head.Marina Alexandrovna Bragina.
“The trip to the Solovyov Readings left me with a very warm impression. At BGUIA we were wonderfully welcomed; from the very first minutes we felt kindness, attention, and genuine interest towards the participants. After the presentations, a real discussion began with the participants: I was asked questions, people shared their thoughts, and proposed new ideas for project development. It turned out lively, meaningful, and simply interesting. Such meetings truly inspire and make you feel like part of a large scientific community,” she sharedPolina Lishina.
“It was great! For me, participating in the conference became not only an experience of speaking, but also an opportunity to truly feel how many perspectives such international meetings open up. It was very pleasant to present my work to a wide audience, to see the live interest in the topic and to understand that it resonates with participants from different universities and countries. After the presentation, there were many warm responses, questions, and interested individuals, and this was remembered no less than the presentation itself. You leave such meetings with a feeling that there may be much more interesting ahead,” she said.Taisia Vladimirova.
