Beijing, April 2 /Xinhua/ — China in the field of scientific, technological innovation adheres to the principles of openness and cooperation, said the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, Mao Ning, on Thursday.

According to the report “National Innovation Index” for 2025, China has risen to 9th place in the global innovation ranking — over the past 10 plus years China has advanced faster than everyone else. Answering the corresponding question at a press briefing, Mao Ning noted that the Chinese government has always given priority and continues to prioritize scientific and technological innovations at the core of the country’s overall development.

In the years of the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025), China has achieved several landmark original results in areas such as new energy source vehicles, large models of artificial intelligence (AI), quantum technologies, and biology, which attracted the attention of Mao Ning. According to her, these achievements served as a powerful impetus for high-quality development and allowed China to become a significant hub of global innovation.

Literally last week, China announced the opening to countries around the world of ten of the most important scientific research infrastructure facilities, including the spherical radio telescope with a 500-meter aperture /FAST/ and the manned deep-sea submersible “Fendouzhe.” By turning its major developments into public goods, China thereby demonstrates that the true value of innovations lies not in monopolistic advantage, but in enabling a greater number of people to benefit from conveniences that bring technological progress, noted the official representative.

During the 15th Five-Year Plan period, China will continue to move unwaveringly toward a higher level of scientific and technological self-sufficiency and self-improvement, promoting the development of new quality productive forces through scientific and technological innovations, giving additional impetus to original innovations, accelerating industrial transformation, actively working on expanding openness and cooperation, and advancing common global development through technological inclusiveness, added Ono.
