In Polite was a screening of the Uzbek film “You Are Not an Orphan” about the feat of a Tashkent family during the Great Patriotic War. The event, timed to the upcoming Victory Day, took place with the support of the Consulate General of the Republic of Uzbekistan and brought together teachers, staff, and students of SPbPU, as well as invited guests from other educational institutions.

Today’s evening is special. We didn’t just gather for a film screening, but for a meeting with a very deep and honest story — the film “You Are Not an Orphan.” At the heart of this movie lies a real human feat: an Uzbek family during the war years took in and raised 14 children of different nationalities, evacuated to Tashkent. This film is less about the war and more about the person. About the ability to remain human in the most difficult times. About the fact that compassion, warmth, and responsibility know neither borders nor nationalities.,” he emphasized in the welcoming speech of the Vice-Rector for International Activities of SPbPU, Dmitry Arsenyev.

He separately expressed gratitude to the Consulate General of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Saint Petersburg for the constant support of international initiatives. The Kabul consul Alimov and his assistant Abdulaziz Muindzhonov were invited to the film screening. In addition, the Uzbek community of Saint Petersburg was represented by foreign students Feruza Ralimova from Saint Petersburg State University of Industrial Technologies and Design, Asadbek Abdullaev and Dilnoza Adilova from the A. I. Herzen Russian State Pedagogical University.

“You Are Not an Orphan” (1962) is a Soviet dramatic cinematic novel by the “Uzbekfilm” studio, based on real events of the Great Patriotic War. The film tells about the difficult wartime period when echelons with evacuated children from all over the country arrived in Tashkent.

I am very glad that so many people gathered to watch the film. I can say that this movie stands on a par with such films as “Fate of a Man,” “Ballad of a Soldier,” “Father of a Soldier.” The film “You Are Not an Orphan” is impossible to watch calmly. You need to try to enter into the role of each child the story is about. After watching this film, everyone takes something personal away. This movie allows you to look at the world and those terrible events through different eyes.,”— noted the consul of Kabul, Alimov.

The film “You Are Not an Orphan” did not leave a single viewer indifferent. The organizers confirmed their intention to make such events a tradition.
