Beijing, April 25 /Xinhua/ — General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee, Chairman of the NPC Xi Jinping and General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP), President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith exchanged congratulations on Saturday on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Laos.
China and Laos, being socialist neighbors in a community with a shared destiny, united by common ideals and beliefs, identical social systems and similar paths of development, noted Xi Jinping, adding that the “comradely and brotherly” ties, personally forged by the older generation of leaders of both parties and countries, become stronger over time.
Currently, both sides are accelerating efforts to create a high-standard, high-quality, and high-level Chinese-Laotian community with a shared destiny. Exchanges at all levels have become closer, and cooperation in various fields continues to deepen. On issues concerning the core interests and key concerns of each other, both sides firmly support each other, bringing valuable stability and certainty to the region and the world, he said.
The CPC and the government of the PRC always consider China-Laos relations from a strategic and long-term perspective and regard Laos as a priority direction in the diplomacy of China’s neighborhood, he said.
Si Jinping expressed readiness to work with Thongloun Sisoulith so that the 65th anniversary of Chinese-Laotian diplomatic relations and the Year of Friendship between the two countries become an opportunity to strengthen strategic mutual trust, develop traditional friendship, and achieve greater results in practical cooperation in various fields for the benefit of the peoples of both countries.
On his part, Thongloun Sisoulith noted that over 65 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, friendly ties between the two parties, two countries, and two peoples, marked by solidarity in difficult times, have been elevated to a higher level, with fruitful results in building the Laos-China community with a shared destiny.
He expressed gratitude to the CPC, the government, and the people of China for their long-standing valuable support and assistance.
Thongloun Sisoulith stated that Laos adheres to the One-China policy, will support China in protecting its core interests, and work with it to implement the new five-year action plan for the Laos-China community with a shared future, in order to achieve new successes in developing traditional friendship and all-encompassing strategic cooperation and partnership between the two countries.
Also on Saturday, Premier of the National People’s Congress Li Qian and Prime Minister of Laos Sonsay Siphandone exchanged congratulations on this occasion.
Li Qian noted that both sides should follow the strategic consensus reached by the top leadership of the two parties and countries, direct the work of ministries and local authorities to strengthen coordination and cooperation, expand areas of interaction, stimulate the emergence of new driving forces for growth, and achieve more tangible results within the framework of the comprehensive strategic cooperation between China and Laos.
According to Sonsay Sipandon, over the past 65 years, the traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic cooperation between Laos and China have continued to deepen.
He added that Laos is ready to work with China to implement the strategic consensus reached by the top leadership of the two parties and countries, ensuring the success of events dedicated to the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations and the Year of Friendship between the two countries, in order to bring more tangible benefits to the peoples of both countries.
