First Deputy Chairman of the Government Denis Manturov held an off-site session of the ERA technopolis on the issue of energy supply for the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. The event was attended by Deputy Ministers of Defense Vasily Os’makov and Alexander Sanchik, representatives of the military innovation technopolis ERA, the Military-Industrial Commission Board, as well as leaders of key industry organizations.

Denis Manturov familiarized himself with the exhibition of Russian manufacturers of energy equipment. The exhibition presented portable and mobile generators, large-capacity power plants, as well as a range of new battery systems, including built-in batteries for a wide range of weapons and military equipment.

“Energy capability of troop groupings and individual units is a critical factor of combat capability, mobility, and maneuverability. It determines the reliability and uninterrupted use of modern weapon models, various tools, and systems. Energy issues are under the constant control of military management bodies. Systematic work is carried out to provide units with the necessary electrical equipment. Along with that, the experience of conducting special military operations presents us with new challenges.”According to some estimates, in combat conditions the number of electricity consumers increased almost tenfold. This sets additional tasks for industrial enterprises,” said Denis Manturov.

The first deputy prime minister noted that, in addition to increasing equipment supplies to the troops, it is also necessary to expand the product line to guarantee full coverage of all needs in energy resources.

“We must fully ensure the fulfillment of relevant military tasks. Considering the enhancement of the capabilities of domestic UAVs, ground robotic complexes, and electronic warfare means. Special attention should be given to the technical support of secure routes for the redeployment of troops and cargo,” emphasized Denis Manturov.

“In preparation for this thematic session, we collected questions and suggestions from the operating bodies of military administration. It is obvious to everyone that modern warfare is still a clash of energy potentials. The changed pace and nature of combat operations impose new requirements on the energy supply of troops. At the same time, the number of energy consumers and power volumes will only increase, including due to the introduction of solutions related to energy-intensive elements and artificial intelligence,” said the Deputy Minister of Defense.

Vasily Osmakov identified several areas of work, including the organization of power supply for new types of equipment and medical devices, as well as cooperation with industry to provide new consumers with energy accumulators and generators in military service.
