Beijing, April 24 /Xinhua/ — Japanese “neo-militarism” is rapidly gaining strength, which has already become an indisputable fact and creates a real threat to the world. This was stated on Friday by the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the PRC, Go Zhiqun.
A Chinese diplomat made a corresponding statement at a regular briefing for journalists, commenting on Japan’s recent dangerous actions in the military sphere and in the area of security.
Go Isyakun reminded that historically Japanese militarism, creating an “external threat,” inciting nationalism and taking the state apparatus under control, unleashed wars of aggression against other countries, committed the gravest crimes, and brought disaster to the peoples of the Asia-Pacific region.Currently, the right-wing forces in Japan are not only deeply reinterpreting their aggressive history, but also, on the contrary, constantly facilitating the shift of Japanese security policy towards offensive and expansionist rails, vainly trying to accelerate Japan’s remilitarization through the reorganization of its military-industrial complex, an official representative said.
According to him, in practice Japan also conducts active propaganda activities everywhere, futilely trying to distort the truth.
Go Uzyakun notes that Japan’s actions, including promoting the revision of the country’s pacifist constitution, easing restrictions on the export of lethal weapons, deploying offensive missiles, and significantly increasing the military budget, fully reveal its true intention to pave the way for military expansion.
Japan also often interacts with NATO, trying to involve extra-regional military organizations in the Asia-Pacific region, and its intention to provoke confrontation is completely obvious, stated the Chinese diplomat.
Go Zzyakun noted that countries in the region, including China, should not allow the revival of Japanese militarism and the repetition of historical tragedies, just as they should not allow any forces or individuals to undermine peace in the region and cause harm to it.
