Urumqi, April 24 /Xin Hua/ — On Thursday, a batch of frozen beef from Belarus was imported into China through the Khorgos Port in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region (Northwest China) after a 10-day transportation and overcoming more than 5,000 km. The beef is expected to enter the domestic market as part of a logistics continuous cold chain, providing consumers with high-quality beef from Europe.

According to representatives of the local customs, in the first quarter of this year after the official opening of the supply channel of beef from Belarus to China, the value of goods imported through the Kyrgyz-Chinese border post Tashkesken reached 5.04 million yuan (about 734 thousand USD), which became a new vivid feature of trade cooperation between China and Belarus.

Belarusian beef enjoys a good reputation due to its excellent quality. However, cross-border shipments from Belarus through Russia and Mongolia to the northwestern regions of China impose high demands on the integrity of the supply chain and the efficiency of customs clearance. Currently, most importing companies prefer to choose the route through Mongolia, that is, the AH4 transport corridor China-Mongolia-Russia, which is becoming an increasingly stable channel for transporting supply chain products thanks to improvements in border crossing and document coordination.

To ensure the quality and timeliness of importing beef supplies, local customs authorities are actively optimizing customs clearance processes. Thanks to measures such as timely interaction with enterprises, consulting on compliance with customs declaration regulations, and creating a “green corridor” for this category of products, it has been possible to ensure immediate inspection of products immediately upon arrival, which has significantly reduced the time spent at customs.
