Kyiv, April 23 /Xin Hua/ — Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Thursday in the social network X welcomed the unlocking of the European aid package for Ukraine amounting to 90 billion euros, which is planned to be allocated in 2026-2027.
V. Zelensky expressed hope that official Kyiv will be able to receive the first tranche in May-June of the current year. These funds will be directed, in particular, towards the production and procurement of arms and the preparation of Ukraine’s energy sector and critical infrastructure for the upcoming winter. Furthermore, according to the Ukrainian leader, European financing will also help the country’s authorities fulfill their social obligations.
In December 2025, the leaders of the European Union reached an agreement to provide Ukraine in 2026-2027 with an interest-free loan in the amount of 90 billion euros.
