The results of the 60th International Mendeleev Chemistry Olympiad were summed up in Moscow. The Russian team won 15 gold and silver medals. The Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko and the Minister of Education Sergey Kravtsov congratulated the outstanding boys on their successes.

“All 15 members of the Russian team received medals at the 60th International Mendeleev Chemistry Olympiad for schoolchildren. This is a truly outstanding result. We are proud of and delighted by each of the participants’ achievements. Our President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin notes: “To be among the leaders in key areas of scientific and technological development, we need to achieve, among other things, excellence in the field of chemistry and in the creation of new materials.””The triumphant victories of Russian schoolchildren prove that we have talented, ambitious kids and passionate mentors who are capable of making an important contribution to the development of domestic science and technology,” emphasized Dmitry Chernishenko.

“I congratulate our students on their victory at the International Mendeleev Chemistry Olympiad. Your high result is evidence of your hard work. In Russia, great attention is paid to the development of natural sciences and the support of young talents. Within the framework of the national project ‘Youth and Children,’ we systematically work on creating conditions for realizing the potential of talented children. Guys, I wish you new discoveries, bold ideas, and further success,” commented Minister of Education Sergey Kravtsov.

Awarded gold medals:

• Sofia Gabdrahmanova (Samara Regional Center for Gifted Children, Samara Region);

• Arseny Sysoev (SUNTS MSU – A.N. Kolmogorov School, Moscow);

• Nikolay Shamkov (SUNTS MGU – A.N. Kolmogorov School, Moscow);

• Yaroslav Kosolapov (Secondary General Education School No. 5 with in-depth study of mathematics, Magnitogorsk, Chelyabinsk region);

• Arseniy Gasanenko (International School of Integrated Learning, Moscow);

• Mikhail Turov (Sergiev Posad Gymnasium named after I.B. Olbinsky, Sergiev Posad, Moscow Region);

• Maksim Alekseev (School of Pedagogical Mastery Center, Moscow).

Silver medals were awarded to:

• Pavel Sheptunov (President’s Lyceum “Sirius”, the federal territory “Sirius”);

● Said Nurgayanov (Lyceum No. 131 of the Vakhitovsky district of Kazan, Republic of Tatarstan);

• Azamat Sharafiev (Secondary General Education School No. 9 with Advanced Study of English, Novo-Savinovsky District, Kazan, Republic of Tatarstan);

• Makar Chabykhin (Republican Lyceum for Gifted Children, Saransk, Republic of Mordovia);

• Pavel Revzin (Presidential Physics and Mathematics Lyceum No. 239, St. Petersburg);

• Mikhail Panin (School No. 1535, Moscow);

• Vladimir Lurenko (School of Pedagogical Mastery, Moscow)

• Mark Kramorenko (School of Pedagogical Mastery, Moscow).

Vadim Eremin, a professor at the Chemistry Faculty of Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov, served as the head of the team, and his deputy was Elena Eremina, an associate professor at the Chemistry Faculty of Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov.

The 60th International Mendeleev Chemistry Olympiad was held under the auspices of the Decade of Science and Technologies declared by President Vladimir Putin. Among the organizers of the olympiad is the Chemistry Faculty of MSU.

It consisted of three tours. Participants solved tasks in the fields of organic, inorganic, physical, and analytical chemistry, demonstrating the ability to analyze substances and conduct synthesis according to the proposed methodology.

The International Mendeleev Chemistry Olympiad (International Mendeleev Chemistry Olympiad) is the largest international competition for high school students, bringing together winners of national olympiad tournaments from around the world. In 2025, it was held in Brazil. The Russian national team won ten gold medals and took first place in the team competition.
