Chengdu, April 22 /Xin Hua/ — A member of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, head of the United Front Work Department of the Central Committee of the CPC, Li Gancze emphasized the necessity to strengthen legal regulation in the management of religious affairs and actively direct the process of adapting Tibetan Buddhism to socialist society.

Li Ganzhe made corresponding appeals during an inspection tour in Gansu Province / Northwest China / and Sichuan / Southwest China, which took place from April 18 to 22.

During his trip, Li Ganzze visited monasteries of Tibetan Buddhism and familiarized himself with the legal-based management system. He also visited the Buddhist Academy of Gansu Province and the Institute of Tibetology Research at Sichuan University, becoming acquainted with the system of religious education, the training of Buddhist monks, and research in the field of Tibetology.

Speaking with representatives of various ethnic groups, the head of the unified front of the Central Committee of the Communist Party indicated the necessity of unwaveringly adhering to the party leadership of religious work, firmly following the course of sinicization of religions, strengthening and improving the management of monasteries and shrines.

Li Ganzze called to strengthen the education and training of persons representing Tibetan Buddhism, as well as control over them, directing the efforts of religious figures towards the decisive protection of the reunification of the Motherland and interethnic unity.

The head of the united front department of the CPC Central Committee also emphasized the importance of proper management of religious educational institutions, the creation and effective use of Tibetological research institutions, the promotion of research in the field of Tibetan Buddhism, the steadfast improvement of the quality level of personnel engaged in religious affairs. –0–
