UN, April 22 /Xin Hua/ — UN Secretary-General António Guterres welcomes Washington’s decision to extend the ceasefire with Iran. This was reported on Tuesday by his press secretary Stefan Dujarric.
“This is an important step on the path to de-escalating the conflict and creating the necessary space for diplomacy and building trust between Iran and the USA. We urge all parties to use this momentum, refrain from actions that could undermine the ceasefire regime, and constructively participate in negotiations with the aim of achieving a sustainable and long-term settlement,” S. Dujarric noted in a statement.
The Secretary-General fully supports Pakistan’s efforts to facilitate further negotiations between the United States and Iran and hopes that these efforts will contribute to creating conditions favorable for a comprehensive and lasting resolution of the conflict, the statement says.
