At the Government Coordination Center, Vice Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko and Minister of Education Sergey Kravtsov held a meeting with the winners and prize-winners of the All-Russian Olympiad on Artificial Intelligence 2025 and launched the new 2026 season.

The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that the new season of the Olympics for artificial intelligence is part of the national project “Economy of Data and Digital Transformation of the State,” which President Vladimir Putin has entrusted to implement.

At the AI Journey conference, our President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin noted the winners of the competitions. This is a good sign — the head of state personally bets on you. We see that mutual interest in AI is growing. Last year, a record number of people applied to participate — more than 52 thousand. The competition for one place in the final stage was more than 800 people, 62 participants passed it. Special thanks to computer science and mathematics teachers in the region, mentors and trainers. Such results are the outcome of joint work,” Dmitry Chernyshenko emphasized.

The Vice Prime Minister noted that achieving technological leadership – a national goal set by President Vladimir Putin – cannot be done without the help of young people. There are also research centers working in the field of AI in the country, which are open to cooperation with Olympiad participants.

He placed particular emphasis on the rapid changes in the AI field and cited as an example the international open development OpenClaw and the domestic Uroboros (Artificial Intelligence Research Institute AIRI) — revolutionary algorithms that allow AI agents to improve themselves: “The question is not whether you notice it. The question is who will write it: you or someone across the ocean,” Dmitry Chernyshenko added.

The Minister of Education Sergey Kravtsov noted that the All-Russian Artificial Intelligence Olympiad has been held for the sixth year in a row.

“Over the past 5 previous years, more than 100 thousand schoolchildren from all regions of Russia have participated in the Olympiad. The year 2025 was significant for the Olympiad. More than 50 thousand schoolchildren took part, which is an absolute record for all the years of its holding. Also, in 2025, the Olympiad became international for the first time. 137 participants from 26 countries took part in the competition,” said Sergey Kravtsov.

He noted that every year one of the priority areas of development of the Russian IT industry is chosen as the theme for the olympiad’s tasks. In 2024, the olympiad was held with the support of the Bank of Russia, in partnership with leading banking organizations. In 2025, the theme of the olympiad was chosen as the digitalization of urban economy “Smart City” with the support of the Ministry of Construction.

In 2026, the year marking the 65th anniversary of the first human spaceflight, a theme was chosen by voting – artificial intelligence for the space sector. The new season’s topic was discussed by Dmitry Gorshkov, Director of the Digital Transformation Department of the state corporation “Roscosmos,” and by pilot-cosmonaut, Hero of Russia Alexander Gorbunov.

Winners and prize-winners of the 2025 Olympiad presented projects in various areas of AI.

Semyon Rodionov from Novosibirsk presented two applied solutions: the Graim AI online broadcast moderation system and the technology for analyzing aerial footage with a UAV and recognizing objects in real time SefixDrones.

Artyom Dzhalilov from the federal territory “Sirius” presented the KompeteAI project – a multi-agent AutoML system that automatically assembles the full cycle of AI model development – from data to a ready-made solution.

Yaroslav Voropaev from Orla talked about the project Road to AGI – an educational program that prepares schoolchildren and students to work with AI and participate in competitions.

Artem Goncharov from Novosibirsk presented the KeyClose AI automatic code analysis system, which identifies vulnerabilities and helps to eliminate them.

The teacher of Lyceum No. 22 “Nadezhda Sibiri” Yuri Kirilenko shared about working with gifted schoolchildren. Thanks to his work, 18 participants from one lyceum reached the finals of the Olympiad. Moreover, three of them became prize winners – this is the best result among the regions.

Dmitry Chernyshenko instructed to organize a presentation of projects of the winners and prize-winners of the Olympiads for potential partners, and also emphasized the importance of organizing internships and mentorship programs for young people.

At the conclusion, Director of the Alliance in the AI field Valery Vorobyov and the head of recruitment and Olympiad track at the Central University Ekaterina Protsko spoke about the opportunities for internships and employment for winners and prize-winners of the Olympiad.

The All-Russian Artificial Intelligence Olympiad is provided as one of the results of the federal project “Artificial Intelligence” of the national project “Data Economy and Digital Transformation of the State”, aimed at promoting and implementing artificial intelligence technologies in various spheres of the country’s life. The Olympiad is held for students of grades 8–11 who study computer science in depth and are interested in AI technologies.

The operator of the Olympiad is the State University of Education. The partners of the Olympiad are the company VK, the Higher School of Economics, MIPT, ITMO, the University “Innopolis”, RUDN, Ural Federal University, Central University, T-Bank, and others.
