Moscow, April 22 /Xinhua/ — A scientific and practical conference dedicated to the cross Years of Education of Russia and China took place here on Tuesday at the Central House of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Participants of the event discussed the current state and prospects of Chinese-Russian cooperation in the field of education.
As noted by the advisor-envoy for education of the PRC embassy in the Russian Federation Cao Shihai, education is a field that connects China and Russia not only through historical ties but is also focused on future generations. “China and Russia are two great powers with a millennia-old history, unique cultural traditions, and advanced scientific schools. Under the strategic leadership of the leaders of the two countries, against the backdrop of sustainable development of Sino-Russian relations, cooperation in the field of education is actively being strengthened, involving all sectors of education of the two countries,” the diplomat said.
The first deputy chairman of the Russia-China Friendship Society, Galina Kulikova, in turn, stated that in the context of developing cooperation between China and Russia, the decision of the leaders of the two countries to hold the Cross-Years of Education in 2026-2027 is of great significance. “Today, youth education is one of the main directions for our countries. In Russia, about 110 thousand students study the Chinese language at 114 universities and approximately 200 schools. More than 65 thousand Chinese students study in Russia. Russian youth study in China. Youth is our future,” she noted.

According to him, this is not just a beautiful metaphor; the university sets the vector for the development of bilateral relations in the field of higher education.
“The traditions of Oriental studies and international dialogue at MSU span more than 270 years. Today, the university not only participates in Russian-Chinese cooperation, but also creates new formats: forums, associations, joint centers and networks, as well as develops future projects,” he said, emphasizing that a landmark project became the MSU-PPI / M.V. Lomonosov MSU and the Beijing Polytechnic Institute / in the city of Shenzhen / Guangdong province / in southern China. This is the first university jointly established by China and Russia.
Participants of the conference noted that within the framework of the Year of Education, more than 300 events are planned, aimed at strengthening communication and interaction in the field of academic exchanges, joint training of highly qualified personnel, conducting scientific research.
