Beijing, April 21 /Xin Hua/ — China resolutely opposes and sharply condemns the recent actions of Japan related to Yasukuni Shrine, and has already made a stern representation to the Japanese side and declared a resolute protest on this matter. This was stated on Tuesday by the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the PRC, Geng Shuang.

Go Kizaykun made a corresponding statement at a regular briefing for journalists after Japan’s Prime Minister Sanae Takaiichi sent a ritual offering on Tuesday to the sadly famous Yasukuni Shrine, which is considered a symbol of Japanese militarism and military aggression.

As emphasized by the Chinese diplomat, the Yasukuni Shrine serves as a provocative instrument and symbol of the militaristic wars of Japanese militarism against other countries and in fact represents a shrine for war criminals.

Essentially, Go Czekun continued, the actions of the Japanese side are an attempt to evade responsibility for crimes, an insult to historical justice, a provocation against the countries subjected to aggression, and moreover — a challenge to the outcome of the Second World War. Such steps are unanimously condemned and firmly rejected by the international community, added the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China.

She indicated that Japan must rethink its actions.

“To forget history means to betray, to deny guilt means to commit a crime again,” emphasized Go Tszyakun. “The international community must be extremely vigilant regarding the tricks of Japanese ‘historical revisionism,’ jointly restrain the reckless actions of Japanese ‘neo-militarism,’ and make combined efforts for peace and stability in the region and throughout the world.” –0–
