To improve the safety culture among employees and trainees of Politeka and based on the Institute of Industrial Management, Economics and Trade, a training and instructional session was held dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the creation of the public youth organization “All-Russian Student Rescue Corps.” The topic of the training was “Fire Extinguishing and First Aid Provision.”

Firefighters of the student fire-rescue squad “Peter the Great” actively participated in the organization and conduct of the exercises, jointly with the civil protection department of the Civil Security Directorate. The squad is organizationally subordinate to the St. Petersburg regional organization of the All-Russian Voluntary Fire Society (ARVFS).

Participants also took part in the event:

  • voluntary student association “Political Squad”;
  • employees of LLC “OO “Yu-Piter”.

By agreement, attracted:

  • Student medical rescue team “Epsilon” of the First Saint Petersburg State Medical University named after academician I. P. Pavlov, included in the regional organization of VSKS;
  • representative of the Saint Petersburg regional public organization of the fire protection “Fire and Rescue Squad “5th Watch”.

With a parting word, the deputy director of IPMET Arkady Evgrafov spoke. A brief briefing on the use of primary fire extinguishing means was conducted by the volunteer firefighter of PSO “5th watch” Gleb Galiev.

The exercise was conditionally divided into two stages. The first stage included organizing two training grounds for fire extinguishing. Participants needed to put out a conditional fire using various types of fire extinguishers while strictly adhering to safety techniques. The VSKS squad successfully completed the task. Then, volunteers from among the employees and trainees of IPMEIT were involved in skill training under the guidance of Darya Shanina.

The second stage was dedicated to providing first aid for various injuries sustained as a result of a fire. For this purpose, six training sites were organized. Members of the VSKS team sequentially demonstrated the algorithms of rescuers’ actions, while the leader explained step-by-step the procedure for providing first aid in:

  • burns of the hands and loss of consciousness;
  • signs of poisoning by combustion products (weakness, cough);
  • head injuries and suspected concussion;
  • tibia fracture (open fracture);
  • Multiple bruises and compressions of the chest with subsequent respiratory and circulatory arrest;
  • arterial bleeding from a wound on the thigh.

At the end of the exercise, the “victims” were placed in a minibus and conditionally sent to a medical facility. Arkady Evgrafov, Deputy Director of IPMEIT, noted that all actions were performed correctly and complied with established requirements.
