Saint Petersburg Polytechnic University signed a cooperation agreement with Gazpromneft-Zapolyarye.The rector of SPbPU Andrey Rudskoy, Vice-Rector for Research Yuri Fomin, Director of the Institute of Mechanical Engineering, Materials and Transport Anatoly Popovich, Director of the Institute of Biomedical Systems and Biotechnology Andrey Vasin, Director of NTC “New Technologies and Materials” IMMIT Aleksey Alimenko, head of the “Field Development” department of NTC “New Technologies and Materials” Vasiliy Tokarev, as well as a delegation from “Gazpromneft-Zapolarye” led by General Director Vladimir Krupenikov, took part in the working meeting.
“Gazpromneft-Zapolyarye” is a subsidiary of “Gazprom Neft,” which implements projects in the field of extraction. The enterprise applies modern technologies in drilling and construction, three-dimensional geological models, as well as a block-modular approach to creating infrastructure, ensuring the ecological viability of projects by reducing the construction area and decreasing metal consumption.
“Gazpromneft-Zapolyarye” is working on the development of solutions for the arrangement and monitoring of facilities in the permafrost zone. An important priority of the company is industrial and environmental safety, supporting traditional industries, lifestyles, and customs of the indigenous peoples of the North. The enterprise makes a significant contribution to regional support, implementing educational, cultural, sports, and environmental projects aimed at the socio-economic development of territories and improving people’s quality of life.
Cooperation between the Polytechnic University and “Gazpromneft-Zapolyarye” provides for:
- training and retraining of personnel with higher and secondary professional education in accordance with the modern requirements presented to specialists;
- Facilitation of dissemination of information on scientific research, new developments, publications, and other materials;
- organization and conducting of introductory, educational, production, and pre-diploma practices for students;
- Joint participation in the organization of scientific and practical conferences, youth development competitions, and other events;
- Participation in the event on preliminary employment of SPbPU graduates in in-demand enterprises by fields of training and specialties;
- internship conduction.
Our cooperation with the company has been developing for several years already — these are research projects and the largest annual joint conference in the country on field development in permafrost ground. I am confident that now we will launch new projects using the experience and expertise of Politekh and Gazpromneft-Zapolyarye, in particular, with the application of AI for the development of robotic systems for mineral extraction. Undoubtedly, our partnership will make a significant contribution to strengthening the domestic economy and industry.

After signing the agreement, the delegation of “Gazpromneft-Zapolyarye” met with the students of Politeh. General Director Vladimir Krupenikov spoke about the structure of the company, the main projects, and working conditions. Head of the Training and Personnel Development Department Elvira Bibaeva elaborated specifically on how the company organizes work with students, what employment opportunities and career development options they have.
Then senior students and graduate students communicated with the company’s expert leaders. In the format of a direct dialogue, they discussed key business directions, the scale and prospects of projects and operational activities, as well as career development opportunities for young specialists.
First- and second-year students participated in the site-tech game “Getting to Know the Company.” It was an interactive team multimedia game about the company and its activities.
In addition, the delegation of “Gazpromneft-Zapolyarye” was given a tour of the Main Building, shown a model of the campus at NIK “Technopolis Politekh.” The guests visited the Gazpromneft-Politekh Scientific and Educational Center, the scientific and technological educational space “TVEL—SPbPU,” the “Polytechnic” supercomputer center, and the laboratories of the Institute of Mechanical Engineering, Materials, and Transport.
