Shanghai, April 21 /Xinhua/ — On Tuesday in the city of Shanghai in eastern China, the work of laying rails on the 22nd line of the city metro, which crosses the Yangtze River, was completed. This project marked a new step made to promote the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta region.
After the completion of construction and commissioning, this line will reduce travel time between the center of Shanghai and Chongming Island, improve the convenience of regional transportation, and provide a new impetus to the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta region. Chongming Island is located at the mouth of the Yangtze River and is the 3rd largest island in China.
Line 22 of the Shandong metro, with a length of 42 km, starts from Cuizincilu station in the new Pudu district and goes to Yuyan station on the island of Chunmidao, crossing the Yangtze River twice via the island of Chansindao. This line has a total of 8 stations, and the projected train speed on it is 120 km/h.
