Tokyo, April 21 /Xinhua/ — Three people were killed and one wounded as a result of an explosion of ammunition that occurred Tuesday morning during exercises at a training ground of Japan’s Self-Defense Forces in Oita Prefecture, reported the public broadcaster NHK.

An explosion occurred during exercises at the training ground of the Japan Self-Defense Forces “Hidzudai” in southwestern Japan, according to a message citing sources affiliated with the Ministry of Defense.

According to preliminary data, the exercises were conducted by a tank unit.
