Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko held a working meeting with the President of the Russian Academy of Sciences Gennady Krasnikov. They discussed the implementation of the Decade of Science and Technology initiatives, the upcoming 30th anniversary of the ‘Nauka’ publishing house, and monitoring the implementation of national projects to ensure technological leadership.
“The Russian Academy of Sciences strengthens its authority as the country’s main expert body every year. The Scientific and Technical Council under the Government Commission on Scientific and Technological Development operates on its basis. Over the past year alone, it has conducted expertise on more than 400 documents. Following the directive of our President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, NTS monitors the scientific and personnel components of national projects to ensure technological leadership. This work makes a significant contribution to achieving the national goal set by the head of state,” noted Dmitry Chernyshenko.
The Vice Premier and the President of the Russian Academy of Sciences drew attention to the fact that as part of the Decade of Science and Technology, a complex of events is being prepared dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the publishing house “Nauka”. The publishing house is among the oldest and largest scientific publishers in Russia, making a significant contribution to the development of domestic science and culture. For many years, the “Nauka” publishing house has been a center for the dissemination of scientific printed words and academic knowledge, performing a full cycle of publishing work and exerting a significant influence on the development of scientific book publishing, enlightenment, and popularization of science.
Dmitry Chernyshenko also noted the leading role of the academy in the development of fundamental science as the foundation for achieving technological leadership. Thanks to the decisions of the President, the expertise of the RAS was expanded to include scientific activities of organizations subordinate to the Government; the academy was assigned a leading role in the development of the state scientific attestation system, with powers regarding the approval of candidates for heads of scientific organizations.
“The Russian Academy of Sciences today provides expert support in the preparation and adoption of strategic state decisions. These issues are reflected in the work of scientific councils and commissions of the RAS, on the agenda of the presidium of the RAS. Within the framework of the Scientific and Technical Council of the CNT, our scientists are involved in monitoring the implementation of national projects of technological leadership. Members of the academy take the most active part in preparing virtually all decisions concerning the organization of research and the development of science in our country,” reported Gennady Krasnikov.
