Yerevan, April 20 /Xin Hua/ — Armenia will not take steps to resume active work in the Collective Security Treaty Organization /CSTO/, but at the same time it is interested in joining the Shanghai Cooperation Organization /SCO/. Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan stated this on Monday, presenting the pre-election program of the ruling party “Civil Contract”.
“As you know, Armenia’s membership in the CSTO is frozen, and no steps will be taken to resume active participation. And this is reflected in our election program,” emphasized N. Pashinyan.
Armenia suspended its participation in the CSTO activities since February 2024.
Speaking about Armenia’s participation in other multilateral formats, the head of government noted that the country is interested in joining the SCO.
On June 7, 2026, another parliamentary election will be held in Armenia, as a result of which a new government will be formed.
