In the Tula region, a major overhaul of the bridge over the Krasivaya Mecha river at the 311th km of the alternative route of the M-4 “Don” highway has been completed. Traffic on the structure was opened more than a year ahead of schedule, Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin reported.
“The development of road infrastructure involves not only the construction of new highways but also the timely renovation of existing structures. It is important that roads and bridges meet modern reliability and safety standards, ensure convenient transportation, and provide access to settlements. The bridge over the Krasivaya Mecha plays an important role in the transportation system of the Tula region, connecting settlements in the Efremovsky district and facilitating traffic bypassing the main highway route. Residents use this route to reach schools, shops, medical facilities, and other socially significant institutions,” noted Marat Khusnullin.
After the repair, the width of the roadway has been increased to 10 meters, which creates more comfortable conditions for traffic movement. A 1.5-meter-wide sidewalk has been provided for pedestrians. The structure has been brought into compliance with modern load-bearing requirements.
“The early completion of the repairs was the result of effective organization of the work. At the same time, the shortening of the deadlines did not affect the quality: all works were completed in full compliance with the necessary technical requirements. Specialists dismantled the old bridge deck, span structures and supports, arranged new foundations on bored piles, erected monolithic reinforced concrete supports, and installed new reinforced concrete span structures. In addition, a new bridge deck was laid and electric lighting was installed,” noted Vyacheslav Petushenko, Chairman of the Board of the state company Avtodor.
