At a working meeting, Deputy Prime Minister – Plenipotentiary Representative of the President in the Far Eastern Federal District Oleg Kozhemyako discussed with the Governor of Magadan Region Sergey Nosov the issues of implementing Magadan’s master plan, modernizing social infrastructure under the presidential single subsidy, and the construction of facilities within the framework of national projects and state programs.
“Not long ago, we were in the Magadan region and visited Magadan itself. The Magadan region today demonstrates successes both in the growth of gross regional product and in the economic model. Large projects are being implemented in the region not only in the field of subsoil use but also in logistics. The appearance of Magadan, as well as other cities and settlements in the region, is improving. Many facilities are being built with the help of city-forming enterprises. The tourism potential is gaining good momentum. Together with other regional heads, we looked at the ‘Talaya’ sanatorium. We see good prospects here. The attitude toward Magadan among Russians is changing as well. The city is becoming a place where you can live, work, and develop. Social infrastructure is being renewed. We will discuss which development directions for the region are priorities, what deserves attention, and what we can assist with in achieving the planned goals,” Oleg Kozhemyako began the meeting.
Sergey Nosov went into detail about the development plans for the Magadan Region. In particular, the governor reported on the implementation of the master plan for the development of Magadan until 2030 – a strategic document for the spatial and socio-economic development of the city, developed on the instructions of the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin. Its main mission is to transform Magadan from a “mining outpost” into a modern, comfortable “city by the sea” and a leading service center of the Far East North.
“Today we are guided by the master plan approved by the head of state. Taking into account the President’s decree on celebrating the centenary of the founding of Magadan in 2029, the task has been set to implement the approved master plan to the fullest extent possible,” said Sergey Nosov.
As Oleg Kozhemyako noted, the implementation of the master plan measures became one of the mechanisms for raising the status of Magadan at the national level.
“We believe that celebrating the centenary of Magadan will help change the public perception of the city, which has been shaped by the specifics of its founding history, and that public opinion will take on a positive hue. This is important so that both the city and the region can continue to develop dynamically,” noted Sergey Nosov.
The modernization of social infrastructure under the presidential unified subsidy provided through the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East was also discussed, as well as the construction of facilities within the framework of national projects and state programs.
