MOSCOW — The Moscow Metro continues to demonstrate record levels of reliability and traffic intensity. Over the 9 months of the current year, the city’s subway trains have collectively covered more than 862 million kilometers, confirming Moscow’s transport system as one of the busiest and most efficient in the world.Nearly 7,000 train cars run daily across 17 metro lines, transporting over 8 million passengers per day. At the same time, the share of new generation trains in the metro fleet has exceeded 82%, which is one of the highest rolling stock renewal rates among the world’s megacities.

High levels of safety and uninterrupted operation are achieved through comprehensive maintenance. The technical condition of the trains is monitored daily by thousands of specialists at 23 electric depots. Maintenance of innovative trains is carried out by the manufacturer’s service company under a life cycle contract, guaranteeing strict compliance with global operational standards throughout the service life of the cars.

“By the order of the Mayor of Moscow Sergey Sobyanin, we regularly monitor the technical condition of the metro rolling stock. Safety and comfort of passengers are our main priorities. In 9 months of this year, metro trains have already traveled more than 862 million km,” said Maxim Liksutov, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport.
