First-year students of the Yaroslavl Automotive Mechanical College, studying in the field of “Software Development and Management,” visited the Tutaev Motor Plant, a subsidiary of KAMAZ in the Yaroslavl region.
The tour began at the factory history museum: here, students learned about the contribution the enterprise makes to the development of domestic mechanical engineering. Next, the route continued to the production facility—the tour was led by the chief technologist of PJSC “TMZ”, Sergey Korovkin. He explained how the knowledge gained at college can be applied in working professions.
The students were introduced to a wide range of specialties where programming skills and working with CNC equipment are in demand: CNC machine operators, adjusters, metrologists, and others. The visitors toured the machining center section in the engine parts and gearboxes workshop and saw how diverse the range of parts manufactured on CNC machines is.
In the chief metrologist’s department, students were shown the operation of a high-precision coordinate measuring machine. In the repair and tool shop, they got a closer look at the profession of a machine operator, and at the winch and gearbox assembly areas – they learned about the work of an assembly fitter.
The factory workers were eager to answer numerous questions—not only posed to the chief technologist but also to the shop managers and workers.
The excursion made a great impression on the students: many noted that they consider TMZ as a potential workplace and were interested in the possibility of doing an internship there.
