Project “Moscow Longevity» continues to expand its directions. In the autumn season, two more new courses will appear for city residents over 55 years old. On October 26, the “School of Bathing Mastery” opens, and on October 27 — the “School of Floristry.” Classes will be held free of charge in various districts of Moscow.
During the sessions of the “Bathhouse Mastery School” program, participants will learn how to make the bathhouse a part of a healthy lifestyle. There will be 11 venues Moscow Longevity Centers in various districts of the city. The class schedule can be found on website.
The course consists of five sessions. Four of them will take place in Moscow longevity centers, and the final practicum will be held at a bath complex. During this time, participants will learn how the bath affects health, how to properly prepare the body for visiting it, and what contraindications exist. For example, one of the meetings will discuss when visits to the bath can improve the condition and when they might cause harm.
An experienced mentor will explain how to behave in an unfamiliar bathhouse, what to take with you, and how to know when the steam room is ready. He will tell you how to enter the bathhouse, breathe properly inside, and exit it, how to safely use the venik (birch broom), as well as what is needed after steaming. A separate session will be dedicated to the history, culture, and national bathhouse traditions. During the off-site practicum, participants will apply the acquired knowledge.
“The bathhouse is one of the most affordable ways to prevent various diseases. But to achieve a health benefit, it must be used correctly. These are exactly the principles we will be studying in our classes. During proper steaming in the bathhouse, overall blood circulation and lymph movement accelerate, stagnant conditions disappear, and muscle tone decreases. At the same time, the bathhouse provides deep relaxation, rejuvenating the body and extending an active life,” noted the author of the program and master of bathhouse art, Vasily Lyakhov.
As part of the “School of Floristry” course, specialists will teach Muscovites of the “silver” age the intricacies of working with floral arrangements. Classes will be held at 11 Moscow Longevity centers in various districts of the capital. Each group will have 15 people enrolled. A total of six classes are planned, starting on October 27. Thus, by the New Year holidays, participants will be able to create arrangements as gifts for their loved ones, as well as to decorate their own homes.
As part of the course, experts will introduce listeners to the florist’s tools, the rules for handling and preparing flowers, and will explain how to assemble and package bouquets and arrangements. Participants will master the basics of floral design for buffet and official events and acquire skills for working in the event-floristry format. The full schedule of classes can be found at website.
At the final lesson, novice florists will assemble final projects—compositions of dried flowers in the colors of “Moscow Longevity,” as well as learn the preservation technique. After the exhibition, visitors to the centers will be able to admire the compositions, and the participants themselves will receive personalized certificates of course completion.
This season, the city’s senior residents are invited to visit autumn marathon in the Moscow longevity centers and at partner venues. As Anastasia Rakova, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Social Development, explained, Muscovites can expect seven thematic blocks in various areas, as well as a “Barista School” and a “School of Russian Tea Tradition.”
