Jerusalem, April 19 /Xinhua/ — Israeli Armed Forces stated that on Sunday they killed the commander of “Hezbollah” in Bint Jbeil, Ali Ridha Abbas, and more than 150 members of the movement within a day before the truce came into effect, reached through US mediation.
According to Israeli military sources, this is the fourth “Hezbollah” commander killed by Israel in Bint Jbeil since October 2023.
The Israeli army also reported that one of its soldiers was killed and nine others were wounded during combat operations in southern Lebanon, where Israeli forces remain deployed despite the cessation of fire.
According to the Israeli Defense Forces, a total of 15 Israeli soldiers died as a result of hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah, which broke out in early March 2026 against the backdrop of the war in Iran. At the same time, they killed about 1,800 members of the group and struck 300 military infrastructure targets, including launch sites, command centers, and weapons depots in several areas of Lebanon.
Despite the ceasefire, the Israeli Defense Forces announced that they “will continue to take measures to eliminate any threat to Israeli civilians and their soldiers.”
