Educational Building No. 3, DonNASA
Alongside the development of the educational environment in higher education institutions of the reunited regions, their infrastructure is also being updated. The conditions created in classrooms, laboratories, libraries, and dormitories generally affect the unlocking of the young generation’s potential. For example, a major overhaul of the academic building of Donetsk State University (DonSU) has begun, and at the branch of the National Research Moscow State University of Civil Engineering (NRU MGSU) – Donbass National Academy of Construction and Architecture (DonNASA), repair work is in its final stage. This was reported by Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin.
“The development of social infrastructure remains one of the priority areas of activity for Russia’s construction complex in Donbass and Novorossiya. The implementation of a set of measures also makes it possible to provide residents of these regions with access to quality education, create conditions for training in-demand specialists, and ensure comfortable working conditions for the teaching staff. In the DPR, for example, builders have begun the major renovation of the DonGU educational building. Its 14-story building has not been updated since 1971. After the completion of the work, it will house two key faculties: foreign languages, as well as mathematics and information technology. At the same time, a large-scale renovation of the NIU MGSU branch — DonNASA — continues in the region,” said Marat Khusnullin.
The Deputy Chairman of the Government added that at DonGU the builders will have to renovate a facility with an area of over 14 thousand square meters. Currently, dismantling and preparatory work is underway there. At DonNASA, repairs of two dormitories and academic buildings are being completed, which are planned to be commissioned by the end of this year.
“The restoration of educational infrastructure is a contribution to the socio-economic development of Donbass and Novorossiya. Modern conditions for student education allow us to strengthen the human resources potential of the regions, train specialists for key economic sectors, and create a foundation for the further development of territories. Renovating university buildings is an important part of this work,” noted Deputy Minister of Construction and Housing and Communal Services Almaz Khusainov.
Infrastructure upgrades at two higher education institutions are being carried out under the leadership of the public-law company “Unified Customer in the Field of Construction.”
“The major renovation of the educational building of DonSU includes bringing all internal spaces up to modern regulatory requirements and comprehensive updating of the building’s engineering systems – electricity supply, water supply, sewage, and heating. Major repair work is already being completed on four facilities of the Donbass National Academy of Construction and Architecture, and it is planned to equip the renovated dormitories and educational buildings with technological equipment and furniture in the first quarter of next year. Builders are also currently renovating the buildings of the Palace of Culture and the sports complex on the basis of DonNASA,” reported Karen Oganesyan, General Director of the PPK “Unified Customer.”
