The construction of the building for the Institute of High Technologies has been completed on the campus of the Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University (BFU) in Kaliningrad. Currently, a certificate of compliance has been obtained. This was reported by Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin.
“By the order of the President, we continue to carry out large-scale work on the creation of modern university campuses. This is an important part of the work on developing the country’s educational infrastructure. Such facilities open up new opportunities for student education, conducting scientific research, and training in-demand specialists. For example, in Kaliningrad, the large-scale project to build the ‘Kantiana’ campus continues. To date, the construction of another building—the Institute of High Technologies—has been completed, which will become one of the key sites for the development of engineering education and scientific activity,” noted Marat Khusnullin.
The building is currently being equipped with the most modern educational, engineering, and laboratory equipment.
“The work on creating the BFU named after Kant campus is proceeding according to the planned schedule. As of today, the overall construction readiness of the facility, with an area of over 115 thousand square meters, is about 95%, and the project implementation has entered the final stage. By the end of the year, it is planned to complete the remaining two facilities – the building of the Higher School of Philosophy and Social Sciences and the conference complex,” said Karen Oganesyan, General Director of PPK “Unified Customer.”
One of the most prominent architectural features of the new student campus is the clock tower with a spire on the building of the Graduate School of Philosophy and Social Sciences. The 3-meter diameter clock installed on it emphasizes the expressive silhouette of the building and makes the campus architectural appearance recognizable.
The tower clock has four dials facing different cardinal directions. Each dial is composed of 16 segments of tempered triplex glass with an internal white light-diffusing film. The clock mechanisms are manufactured in Russia and are designed for operation over several decades.
“The completion of the construction of the Institute of High Technologies is an important milestone in the development of our university and the entire scientific and educational ecosystem of the region. The new building will house a large laboratory complex with an area of over 1,000 square meters, which will serve as the foundation for breakthrough research and workforce training focused on real industry challenges. Most of the research centers are being created in partnership with industrial partners and employers — among them OKB ‘Fakel’, ‘Renera’, ‘Avtotor’, ‘Bitrix 24’, GS Group, JSC ‘Rosnano’, WeldExpert, and others. The laboratories on campus will become a full-fledged platform for our partners to conduct R&D activities — up to product launch into production. Special attention is given to key areas: electric transport, additive technologies, electronics, robotics, and satellite construction,” noted Maksim Dyomin, rector of Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University.
The construction of the campus in Kaliningrad is being carried out within the framework of the federal project “Creation of a network of modern campuses” and the national project “Youth and Children” under the directive of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin and the Government. Four more campuses are currently being built by specialists of the JSC “Unified Customer” in Oryol, Novosibirsk, Smolensk, and Moscow.
