Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak and the Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of Russia in the Northwestern Federal District Igor Rudenya held a meeting at PJSC “Silovie Mashiny”, where they discussed issues related to the development of energy engineering and new technologies for Russia’s energy sector, as well as toured the production workshops of the Leningrad Metal Plant.

“Silovye Mashiny” implement projects that ensure technological sovereignty and leadership of the Russian energy sector, develop engineering competencies, create specialized production capacities, and master technologies that have no analogues in Russia to create the latest equipment models.

“By the order of the President of Russia, the national project ‘New Atomic and Energy Technologies’ is being implemented, within which a significant step has already been taken towards achieving technological sovereignty. Russian energy engineering enterprises have always been renowned for their own manufacturing, and work is currently underway to replace certain elements of foreign equipment with domestic ones, as well as to create their own large and medium power gas turbine units. In terms of electric power, the level of substitution is 80–85%. The goal is to reach 90–95% in the coming years,” emphasized Alexander Novak.

At the production facilities of JSC “Silovye Mashiny”, GTÉ-170 turbines are being serially manufactured, on the basis of which new capacities are currently being created for the Moscow region, the Far East, and Siberia. Work on the pilot model of the GTÉ-65 turbine is also in its final stages. Preliminary design of a new F-class turbine GTÉ-300 has begun. “Silovye Mashiny” is ready to supply the industry with the necessary gas turbine units for the new generation and replacement of operated imported equipment.

One of the latest developments is the first Russian low-speed turbine of 1255 MW, on the basis of which a new nuclear power plant unit was launched in early 2026. It became a technological breakthrough for Russian mechanical engineering and strengthened Russia’s leading positions in the global nuclear industry.

Among the most important promising projects is the production of equipment for ultra-supercritical steam parameters (USCSP) for the technological upgrade and improvement of the efficiency of coal generation in Russia. “Power Machines” has developed a turbine and boiler unit using USCSP technology for a 660 and 800 MW power unit. The development has been reviewed by the State Council’s energy commission for the implementation of the coal generation development program. The transition of coal power plants to USCSP aligns with global trends: the technology allows increasing the efficiency of power units up to 48% and reducing coal consumption by 10–30%.
