Washington, April 19 /Xin Hua/ — The US Navy amphibious assault ship “Bashmore” is conducting operations to blockade the Arabian Sea. This was announced on Saturday by the US Central Command in social networks.

According to his reports, the destroyer with guided missile weaponry “Pinckney” patrols regional waters in support of blockade operations. Meanwhile, the dock landing ship “New Orleans” monitors the vessel traffic.

This step was taken after the U.S. Marine Corps and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps / IRGC of Iran announced that the Strait of Hormuz would be blocked starting Saturday evening and would not reopen until the United States lifts the naval blockade of the waterway.

On Friday, Washington and Tehran confirmed that the Strait of Hormuz is fully open for commercial shipping. Nevertheless, US President Donald Trump stated on social media that the naval blockade “remains in full force.” In response, Iran warned of the repeated closure of the strategic waterway if the American blockade continues.
